CQL Accreditation

In 2014, The Arc of Orange County was awarded the four-year Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation from CQL – The Council on Quality and Leadership. CQL is a national leader in working with human service organizations and systems to continually define, measure, and improve person-centered services. This award confirms that The Arc shares CQL’s vision for person-centered solutions to improve the personal quality of life for people receiving supports and services.

When The Arc of Orange partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, we undertook an organization-wide rigorous process to review and improve our person-centered services and supports. Our efforts focus on empowering the people who receive supports from us to make choices in how they live their lives …where they work, where they live, and how they create a community.

After an initial process of engagement, assessment, and preparation reviewers from CQL visited The Arc of Orange to meet with employees, people receiving supports and their families, volunteers, community advocates, and board members for interactive dialogue, debate, and action planning. The visit concluded with accreditation, an organization-wide plan, identification of resources needed, timeframe for implementation and measures of accomplishment.

The Arc of Orange was awarded CQL accreditation as a result of demonstrating proficiency in the following areas for the people it supports:
• 10 Basic Assurances (ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security)- Rights Protection and Promotion, Dignity and Respect, Natural Support Networks, Protection from Abuse, Neglect, Mistreatment and Exploitation, Best Possible Health, Safe Environments, Staff Resources and Supports, Positive Services and Supports, Continuity and Personal Security, and Basic Assurance System/Quality Improvement Plan.
• Personal Outcome Measures® (supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams)
• Person-centered Excellence (demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems directly related to person-centered services)
